Lets analyse the strategy. Round one we bet $5. If each chip costs $5 we must place 1 chip on either red or black. If we decide to play black we must stick to black until it comes out. If we win the round we will make a profit of $5 since the payout is 1:1. If we lose then we will lose $5. In the second round inorder to win the previous %5 back we must now bet $10 since the payout is 1:1. If we win in the second round we will win $10. Resulting in a net total profit of $5.
